A lovely day for racing in Aberdare, with the rain holding off and temperatures staying comfortable throughout the competition.
Our group had two athletes competing: Olivia and Sophie, who both took part in the 100m, 200m and relay.
Olivia continued her season improvement, running a season’s best in the 100m before producing a fantastic performance in the 200m. She showed great determination to win her heat in another season’s best of 27.3 seconds. Everything is moving in the right direction, and it is great to see her hard work being rewarded.

Sophie, who is still relatively new to sprinting, had an outstanding day. She came away with a huge personal best of 14.09 seconds in the 100m and followed that up with another personal best of 29.12 seconds in the 200m. Both performances were excellent improvements, and it looks like breaking 14 seconds and 29 seconds is well within reach in the near future.

The relay team also put up an excellent fight. Olivia ran second leg and handed the baton over to Sophie, with the team producing a determined performance to finish in a very close and competitive fourth place.

Well done to everyone who represented Gloucester AC today. As always, a huge thank you to Matt, Justin, all the officials and volunteers who give up their time to make these events possible.
